Our goal is to attract and retain a well-qualified and diverse workforce. The City of Pontiac is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Discrimination against any person in recruitment, examination, appointment, training, promotion, retention or any other personnel action because of political or religious opinions or affiliations or because of race, national or ethnic origin, sex, age, marital status, disability, or any other non-merit factor is prohibited. We believe different perspectives, experiences and cultures enrich team effectiveness, innovation, and our community. The City advertises on various websites including Michigan Municipal League, the Michigan Talent Bank, college career portals, applicable professional associations, and Indeed.

The City of Pontiac is committed to recruiting and retaining top talent. We encourage all prospective candidates to review the job specifications carefully prior to applying. For this reason, the City does not accept unsolicited employment applications. We encourage you to sign up for job notifications by clicking here to subscribe.

The application process includes application screening for minimal requirements, a phone screen, hiring manager application review, one or more interviews, projects submission (if appropriate) and a comprehensive background check.

The City of Pontiac requires a job related physical examination, including a drug and alcohol test and a complete background investigation, as part of our selection of regular and part-time, hourly, seasonal, and/or temporary employees.  All new and re-hired employees will have a criminal history check conducted.  Offers of employment are conditional upon the successful completion of these examinations.
