About The Clerk

garlanddoyle2023Garland S. Doyle, M.P.A., CNP was appointed City Clerk unanimously by the City Council on May 31, 2022.  He previously served as the Interim City Clerk. Doyle has been leading the City Clerk’s Office since October of 2018.  Prior to leading the Clerk’s Office, he served as the Deputy Director for Community & Economic Development in Pontiac. Also, he has been an administrator for the City of Detroit.

A results-driven leader with experience in community/economic development, fundraising, grants management, health & human services, local government, low-income housing, nonprofit administration, place-based philanthropy research, program evaluation and public policy advocacy. Doyle has led a team of 12 professional managers. His budgetary responsibilities have ranged from $500,000 - $40 million.

In addition, Doyle has been an adjunct college lecturer and is a certified nonprofit professional (CNP).

Doyle holds a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management from Eastern Michigan University. His Bachelor of Arts degree is from Wayne State University.
