The City of Pontiac's Law Department provides legal counseling and representation to the executive and legislative branches of City government as laid out in the City Charter. Among the duties of this department are: advice and opinions on all legal matters; preparation of legislative ordinances and resolutions; prosecution and defense of all legal actions for and against the City; prosecution of charter and city ordinance violations; and preparation and/or approval of all City contracts, bonds and other written instruments.
