Community Development plans, coordinates, implements, monitors and evaluates city-wide property rehabilitation and new construction development proposals and implements programs where economically feasible. They also coordinate the acquisition and disposition of real estate with the city and provide on-going maintenance of CDBG parcels. They are also responsible for animal control.

The City Council has opened a 30-day public comment period on applications for the Community Development Block Grant Program. The city is reviewing 17 applications requesting a total of $2,776,013 in CDBG funding
