christmastree disposalChristmas Tree Collection Schedule, January 2, 2013 through January 13, 2013 City of Pontiac/VEOLIA (Onyx) curbside tipper cart refuse collection customers may set out Christmas Trees for collection on their first two scheduled collection days of January ONLY. Trees will be composted so all stands, lights, & decorations must be removed prior to set out. Do not put trees in plastic bags when placing at curb. Trees should be laying on their side with the trunk facing the street and set out at least 3 feet away from the tipper cart. Artificial trees are not compost able and are not included in the Christmas tree collection schedule. Unwanted artificial trees should be dismantled or cut up & placed in the tipper cart for disposal.

Orchard Lake Road Closed Under Phoenix Center

Due to the vandalism of the electrical system at the City of Pontiac Phoenix Center Parking Garage, Orchard Lake/Auburn Road will be closed betweenNB Woodward and SB Woodward indefinitely. The electrical system in the PhoenixCenter Garage has been damaged causing the tunnel lighting to not function making it unsafe for vehicular travel. The City has opted not to repair the damage due to the extensive amount of work and prohibitive cost. This closure has been approved by the Michigan Department of Transportation through Advance Notice Permit Number: 99023-011512-12-042412.

There was a Downtown Pontiac Transportation Assessment Meeting on Tuesday, June 12 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bowen Center, 52 Bagley St.

City officials are looking for resident input regarding plans for Pontiac's future.

federalminiThe City of Pontiac hosted a press conference on Monday, February 6 at 201 Starr Avenue to announce the kick-off of an “Open House Tour” showcasingforeclosed homes that are beautifully renovated or completely rebuilt as part ofa federally funded initiative. We have partnered with Oakland County, local members of the Michigan Association of Home Builders, the Michigan Association of Realtors and developers such as Home Renewal Systems to market the homes, which are valued from $45,000 to $75,000 and feature hardwood floors, state-of-the-art energy-saving appliances and other amenities that defy the perception of foreclosed or abandoned homes. City of Pontiac Written Financial Plan

The current written financial plan is now available online.  As you know, the City is operating under extremely difficult economic conditions and any good ideas that you have will be most welcome.  To submit your ideas, go to the EFM page and click on the suggestion box, or alternatively, please send a letter to EFM, Pontiac City Hall, 47450 Woodward Ave., Pontiac, MI 48342.

City of Pontiac - Consolidated Plan 2011-2015 Summary

Three Year Road Improvement Plan

DPW Engineering has unveiled its Three Year Road Improvement Plan (RIP). It is a map of Pontiac that highlights roadways that will be undergoing improvements over the next three years. It includes projects by both the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the City of Pontiac.

In order to rid the City of Pontiac of dangerous abandoned homes, it has begun an agressive campaign to demolish those buildings.

The new "Demolitions" page provides videos and slide shows of the buildings as they were being torn down. It also includes a list of those homes that have been torn down.

The pothole season is here. You can report a pothole by calling 248-758-3751 or by going to the Report a Pothole webpage and filling out the form. The webpage also answers some questions you may have about potholes as well as provide a diagram and a video about potholes.

Subscription Curbside Recylingis now available to Pontiac residents who currently use the curbside garbage collection service.

Cost will be $13.50 every three months, paid in advance. Recycling will be picked up on the regularly scheduled trash pickup day.

Call 888-443-1717 and say that you are a Pontiac/Veolia customer and are requesting paid subscription service for curbside recycling only.

Free weekly recycling drop off service to residents is still available. Recyclables can be brought to the City Hall parking lot on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. The recycling drop off service located at the Collier Road Landfill is available Monday - Friday during normal business hours.
