Pontiac Creative Arts Center Celebrates Black History Month
On Saturday, February 23rd, the Pontiac Creative Arts Center will host two special events showcasing the talents and works of local African-American storytellers and musicians. From 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., author Jean Licia Elster will discuss her award-winning book, The Colored Car, followed by a book signing and reception. Attendees will have a chance to win one of six books in a giveaway. From 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. will be a celebration of poetry, drumming, singing and dancing. This features Michigan poet, singer and songwriter Tina Randle and includes performers John Valiant Boyd, Danielle Boyd, MookStar Dash, Ashlee Moss, Lakita Patton, Kid B, Larry Watkins and Kaylin Armstong. Wood Turning Class
Registration is going on NOW for our August Wood Turning Class - Learn the joy of turning wood into beautiful and functional pieces of art. With an emphasis on safety and wood turning principles, students will learn how to use a lathe and build projects at their skill level. Class starts on Wednesday, August 1, 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and runs four weeks. Ages 18 and older (Ages 12-17 with a guardian). $125.00 per person. Call 248-333-7849 for more information.
Creative Clay Club
Do you like to play with clay? Introducing the Creative Clay Club at the PCAC for adults. For $20.00 per month, members have access to our clay studio on Wednesdays, 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Clay is $25.00 per 25 lbs. bag and members must use our clay. Monthly Community Drum Circle
The community drum Circle meets on the first Saturday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Click here for more details.
